Done Deal – Insights from our M&A and Activism team – April 2025

Insights from our M&A and Activism team

Welcome to the latest installment of Done Deal. This month, Cory Fritz, a trade and tariff expert in our public affairs team, shares insights on how businesses can navigate emerging geopolitical uncertainties. We also feature perspectives from across FTI Consulting on how dealmakers can proactively manage risk and uncover opportunities in today’s rapidly evolving regulatory environment. Finally, our new expert Géraldine Amiel, who joins FTI in our Paris team offers brief reflections in our colleague spotlight.

Bringing the Right Players to the Table to Navigate Political Uncertainty

Navigating Left, Right and Center Policy and Regulatory Shifts

It goes without saying that just the first few months of 2025 alone have been unprecedented, with organizations looking to stay ahead of shifting political landscapes, trade tensions, and evolving regulations. Dealmakers must navigate these challenges adeptly. Our experts share expertise and insights from across FTI Consulting to help you not just respond to change, but to proactively manage risk and seize opportunities.

Whether exploring how to incorporate political insights into corporate decision making; reconsidering assumptions on trade or how national security concerns are driving the regulatory agenda, we analyze the unique risks and opportunities general counsel face to help you shape strategy and drive success.

What We’re Up To

Meet our Team: 30 seconds with Géraldine Amiel

What is your focus area at FTI Consulting?

I’m versatile, to say the least. Few years ago, my previous agency entrusted me and few others with the creation of its Paris office, from scratch. Which meant I had to develop all departments, from Public Affairs to Corporate Communications to Crisis and Media training. Now that I’ve joined FTI Consulting, I’m focused on communications on cross-border matters and multi-faceted mandates at the intersection of public affairs and corporate issues, with a strong focus on risk prevention, risk management, and reputation protection.

What trends are you seeing in your marketplace?

Anything that I would say here is going to be obsolete in no time, due to the current geopolitical volatility. Like many, I keep an eye on U.S. financial markets, notably the debt and the currency ones, as they provide a good indicator as to where the money goes. In Fall 2024, we could see huge flows to the U.S. These days, you can see some going to Europe and parts of Asia, an interesting re-balancing act from perplexed investors.

What do you do outside of work that helps you reset and stay sharp for the next professional challenge?

I read. A lot. History books, Ancient Greeks… that might seem pedantic but read the Iliad and the Odyssey, it’s all in there.
