In his new role, Mr. Proaño will spearhead the Brussels’ Strategic Communications segment’s work on antitrust, state aid, M&A, foreign direct investment screening and other competition policy, government affairs and communications matters. He will also work closely with experts across FTI Consulting’s global antitrust network to enhance collaboration and drive new business opportunities within the segment and across the firm.

“Gerardo is a very seasoned public affairs and communication advisor who has been involved in a wide range of high profile competition cases,” said Robrecht Vandormael, a Senior Managing Director and the Head of Competition, Trade and Litigation practice at FTI Consulting within the Strategic Communications segment in Brussels. “As political and reputation management become increasingly critical to achieving successful and long-term competition outcomes, we are delighted that Gerardo will take on this role. His expertise, experience and network will further bolster our ability to help clients navigate their most defining moments.”

Mr. Proaño is a Managing Director who has played a central role in the development of the FTI Consulting’s competition offering  within the Strategic Communications segment since he joined in 2017. Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Proaño said, “Our clients have been increasingly interested in risk management and global advocacy campaigns related to competition policy, as businesses understand that antitrust law enforcement does not happen in isolation.
