Highlights from DC Fintech Week 2022
DC Fintech Week, led by Georgetown University’s Institute of International Economic Law, was held on October 11 and 12, 2022, and brought together fintech executives, thought leaders, and government representatives across the global financial ecosystem.
Policy Themes at DC Fintech Week 2022
The conference shed light on the continued challenge in Washington to balance innovation and opportunity with protecting market integrity and market participants. Whereas several policymakers and regulators emphasized their concern about risk, industry speakers spoke to the potential of fintech, such as bridging the access gap in financial services.
Financial inclusion was a key theme at this year’s conference and continues to be one of the top messages for stakeholders on digital assets; however, policymakers continue to ask for material use cases. While the industry is eager to showcase their efforts around financial inclusion, effectively and clearly, communicating its financial inclusion value is key for policymakers and regulators.
