FTI Consulting Strengthens Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Communications Practice in Asia with the Appointment of Eli Serota in Singapore

Singapore, Jan. 30, 2024 — FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN) today announced the appointment of Eli Serota as a Director in the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Communications practice within the Strategic Communications segment in Singapore, further strengthening the firm’s investment in  cybersecurity crisis communications and preparedness offerings in Asia.

Mr. Serota joins FTI Consulting’s Singapore office from the firm’s U.S. team. In his role, Mr. Serota will focus on partnering with teams regionally and globally to support the increased demand for cybersecurity and data privacy communications advisory services, providing high-level guidance to organizations with a specific emphasis around the communication elements of cybersecurity preparedness and incident response, particularly those involving sensitive data such as personal identifiable information, protected health information and intellectual property.

Having advised on communications for numerous cybersecurity crises across the world, including several high-profile issues in the Asia Pacific region, Mr. Serota’s experience spans multiple industries including financial services, industrials, healthcare, legal services, national defense, logistics, and technology. He has advised organizations regarding their communications challenges when facing double and triple extortion ransomware, phishing campaigns, human engineered breaches, and credential stuffing, designing and implementing complex, multistakeholder communications plans to guide organizations throughout the duration of incident response and post-incident reputation rebuild.

“Eli is well known within FTI Consulting, having previously been based in the firm’s Strategic Communications team in the U.S.,” said Jane Morgan, a Senior Managing Director in the Strategic Communications segment at FTI Consulting. “His experience spans multiple industries, and as we see increasing activity in cyber-related crises here in Asia Pacific, it was the right moment in time for him to join the team in Singapore so we can accelerate our cybersecurity and data privacy communications offerings. Fueled by economic digitization and artificial intelligence development, the region is at heightened risk, which poses a threat not only to corporate reputation, but to business operations and stability.”

Eva Kwok, Head of Cybersecurity, Hong Kong at FTI Consulting, added, “Cybersecurity presents one of the most critical technological challenges of our time, coupled with the complex imperative of effective communications to mitigate reputational risks. With the addition of Eli to the growing team in Asia, we are uniquely positioned to support clients in navigating today’s complex threat landscape.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Serota said, “I’m very excited to join my Strategic Communications colleagues in Singapore and the rest of FTI Consulting’s Asia offices. While cybersecurity is a growing issue across the globe, Asia continues to see particularly steep growth in cybersecurity incidents. I look forward to working with clients across the region who are looking to mitigate their communications challenges.”

FTI Consulting’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Communications practice is one of the largest dedicated cross-border crisis communications teams in the cybersecurity communications space, responding to some of the most high-profile cybersecurity incidents in recent years. The offering provides communications support throughout the length of a cyber incident and across stakeholder groups to protect client reputation.
