FTI Consulting M&A and Activism Practice Notches New Rankings in Bloomberg in H1 League Tables

We are pleased to highlight our recognition in multiple categories in Bloomberg’s 2024 H1 Global Activism League Tables. These achievements are supported by the continued growth of our global M&A and Activism practice.

Since 2022, we have doubled the total number of public activism defense engagements across the firm. Notable results recognized by Bloomberg include:

  • Ranked 4th for global advisers in 2024, up from 16th in 2022
  • Ranked as 2nd in Europe (with only one engagement separating first and second)
  • Only firm to realize growth across every category (total engagements, sector, market cap, +1bn+ targets, +5bn targets, $1bn targets)
  • Listed as Top Advisor in the Materials Sector for 2024

See here for the full league tables.

The team supports clients in navigating engagements with dedicated economic activist shareholders, increasingly vocal institutional investors and ESG funds. The cross-functional team brings practical insight to media relations, proxy advisory recommendations, investor engagement and ESG strategy to realize positive outcomes for clients.

“Our investment over the past two years in our people and global activism capability has established us as the go-to team for boards targeted by activists. By partnering with other advisers, boards, and industry experts, we can create a positive impact for clients immediately.”

Ed Bridges

Global Head of M&A and Activism, FTI Strategic Communications

“Our activism defense offering is built to deliver real value to clients in these high-stress moments. I’m incredibly proud that our unique, global offering continues to gain momentum as clients and other advisers recognize the real benefits of our approach.”

Pat Tucker

U.S. Head of M&A and Activism, FTI Strategic Communications

“Activism defense is a growing area for us globally at FTI and something clients increasingly appreciate the need to have a plan in place for. We are proud of the support we provide clients to navigate the challenges this can present and that in most cases, most of our work never sees the light of day!”

Alex Le May

UK Head of M&A and Activism, FTI Strategic Communications

Over the past year, FTI Consulting’s M&A and Activism team has grown in response to the increased demand from clients facing high-stakes transactions and shareholder activism communications challenges. In the U.S., the team made several key appointments including the hires of Val Mack, a Managing Director who joined from Elliott Management, Tanner Kaufman, a Managing Director who joined from Joele Frank, Kyla MacLennan, a Senior Director who joined from H/Advisors Abernathy, and Andrea Hearon, a Director who joined from Institutional Shareholder Services. In addition, former CNBC International anchor Nancy Hungerford joined as a Managing Director and closely collaborates with the team.  Elsewhere in the network, notable appointments in Asia include Anya Bailey, who joined as Managing Director in Singapore from Finsbury, and Kentaro Hirata, who joined as Senior Director in Japan from MSD Investments. In Europe, Arnaud Cave was appointed as Director, specializing in ESG and Governance, joining from ISS.

We are immensely proud of the work we do and the industry recognitions. Our cross-functional team brings practical insight to realize positive outcomes for clients. This, paired with the strong partnership between the teams in the U.S., UK, Brussels, Germany, and with great potential for the team in Japan, forms a global advisory platform that is unmatched.

Congratulations to the team for their outstanding efforts, and a heartfelt thank you to our clients and partners for the ongoing trust and collaboration.
