FTI Spotlight Series: Yulia Biktudina

Yulia Biktudina is part of the Digital & Insights team, Strategic Communications practice in Singapore. She designs and develops all types of visual communications for clients in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to moving to Singapore, Yulia worked in FTI’s Sydney office for 4 years. Her background in creative and design has allowed Yulia to work with some of the leading branding, advertising and digital agencies for top global brands and organizations.

Yulia, how do you feel that the communications landscape has changed over the past two years, either as a result of COVID or anything else?

Over the past two years we have definitely seen a shift towards finding and using the most time-effective communication outputs and channels. People truly value their time and our attention spans are becoming shorter. Considering the amount of content people consume on a daily basis, it is extremely important to keep this in mind when speaking to your audiences and stakeholders.

What unique solutions can FTI bring to help clients navigate that changing landscape?

FTI Consulting offers world-class solutions that help organizations navigate this changing communication landscape. From using unique Data Analytics research tools to designing and delivering communications materials in creative ways – such as videos, infographics and motion graphics – we help our clients speak to their audiences in the most engaging and concise manner.

How does your team work with others in the firm to provide holistic and integrated solutions?

At FTI Consulting we are very fortunate to have a full arsenal of capabilities in our core key practices. We collaborate with team members from multiple geographies and segments daily. This allows us to provide high quality integrated solutions for our clients across the globe very effectively.

What is the most important piece of advice you’d give companies and organizations right now?

We are living in a time of significant changes. My most important piece of advice to companies and organizations would be to keep their minds open to hiring professionals with highly specialized skills and talents from diverse backgrounds. Hiring diversely ensures companies keep a competitive edge in the market, no matter what industry they are in.

What advice would you give young career professionals who are just starting out in this line of work?

For any professionals starting out as a digital and visual specialist in Strategic Communications, I recommend ensuring that no matter how tempting it might be to focus on the aesthetics and details of the product you are delivering, communicating with the users in the most effective and accessible way should always be the key goal. This allows us to consistently deliver valuable results for our clients.

What have you personally learned the most from your time at FTI?

My greatest learning at FTI Consulting has been that working on important global matters under high pressure can be very exciting, engaging and fun when you are surrounded by a team of exceptionally-skilled and supportive professionals.

What’s the last book you’ve read or show that you’ve streamed?

The latest show I streamed was Stranger Things Season 4. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to see the second part of the season in mid-July. This show brings back a lot of memories from my childhood, as I am sure it does for other millennials.
