LynondellBasell Industries (NYSE: LYB), a large polypropylene and polyethylene manufacturer, retained FTI Consulting to conduct multi-stakeholder research to help inform the company’s corporate positioning following its successful re-emergence from bankruptcy.
Our Role With LynondellBasell Industries
FTI Consulting’s engagement began with an internal assessment, including interviewing over 15 members of its executive counsel, as well as key functional leaders in the organization. In addition to gaining an “inside-out” perspective as to the current state of communications and stakeholder engagement at the company, the assessment allowed for the development of attributes and themes to be tested across key stakeholders through FTI Consulting’s sentiment research. FTI Consulting conducted its baseline research among the company’s top 50 active investors, 10 largest customers globally, as well as over 1,500 current employees and over 100 potential employees. The research was conducted in five languages across North America and Europe.
Following the completion of the research, FTI Consulting presented key findings and recommendations to a variety of functional and business leaders on how to improve its messaging, communications and overall engagement with key stakeholders. The results of the research showcased a number of important findings that would help the company move past its post-bankruptcy “cost containment” positioning, focusing instead on its forward-looking vision and growth strategy. In addition, the research highlighted the opportunity for LynondellBasell to proactively shape the company’s culture among current and future employees. The company also used the research as a means of underscoring the need for change internally, as well as a tool to ensure that actions being taken by the company were connected to the desired outcomes across its core stakeholders.
LynondellBasell continues to be an FTI Consulting client.
